Featured Director - Robert C. Smith, Utah

Robert “R.C.” Smith lives for two things—Harleys and the Hoop Shoot.

When not cruising the scenic roads of his home state, Smith works with Lodge and District Hoop Shoot Directors throughout Utah to ensure their contests are successful.

Now serving his third year as a State Hoop Shoot Director, Smith has been a member of Eureka ‘Tintic’, Utah, Lodge No. 711, for 33 years.

“Through the Elks, I’ve developed a family of friends who share the same desire to help our community,” says Smith. “It feels wonderful to know that together we can make a difference.”

Smith stays involved with the Hoop Shoot because the program gives him the opportunity to interact with youth and their families.

“The Hoop Shoot and my grandkids keep me young and active.” explains Smith.

And we’re sure his Harley Davidson does, too.

Through the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program, the Elks National Foundation teaches kids the values of hard work and good sportsmanship. In 2012-13, the ENF allocated $748,055 to fund this program. For more information on the Hoop Shoot, visit www.elks.org/hoopshoot.
