Elks Change the News

As the COVID-19 crisis began to unfold last spring, Elks Lodges were shuttered. People were getting sick. Healthcare workers were overwhelmed. One in six Americans faced food insecurity by the end of the summer. Then, the Community Investments Program grant year opened. Elks said, “not in my community.” With CIP grants and an unwavering commitment to service, we changed the news.

CIP Phase 2: Beacon and Spotlight Grants

On Tuesday, June 1, the applications for the $3,500 Beacon Grant and the $2,000 Spotlight Grant opened. The Beacon and Spotlight grants are available to every Lodge, and the flexibility that was introduced last year will continue. Plus, Lodges can merge the Spotlight Grant with the Beacon, increasing their Beacon Grant project budget to $5,500.

Cumulative Recognition Changes Made

On March 31, we made the biggest change to our cumulative recognition program since 2001—we discontinued the three cumulative recognition levels below $1,000. The change aligns our recognition programs with our fundraising priorities and help us better control costs.

2021 Donation Deadline

The donation deadline is March 31. Donations must be received at the Elks National Foundation office by that date. This is a firm deadline. Please mail donations as soon as possible. Some areas of our country are experiencing significant mail and courier delivery service delays, and unpredictable weather can impact delivery. To guarantee donations are received by March 31, consider donating online at enf.elks.org/donate.
