Labor of Brotherly Love

Brotherly Love, one of four core principles that drive Elks toward their mission to serve veterans and their communities. This principle alone can be powerful enough to strengthen communities and inspire individuals to share that brotherly love in return. Elks are showing their brotherly love to the veterans in their lives, with the help of ENVSC’s Freedom Grant program, and showing what it really means when Elks Care, Elks Share.

Clovis, Calif. Lodge No. 2599 banded together to support veterans, who are facing homelessness, in Fresno County at their local Stand Down. Members worked diligently to fill Survival Backpacks filled with winter items like gloves, homemade knit hats and other supplies to uplift veterans facing harsh winter conditions. These Survival Backpacks don’t just provide supplies for the veterans who receive them, but they are a firm reminder that the Elks are looking out for them.

Golden, Colo. Lodge No. 2740 has been providing aid to the 140th Security Forces Squadron of the 140th Wing of the Air National Guard and their families for four years now! Golden Lodge members shopped, prepared and served three lunches this year during the Security Forces Squadrons weekend training events. Members also provided five baby baskets to Security Forces Squadrons members who were recently expecting a child. Through Golden Lodge’s dedication to developing a strong relationship, veterans of the Security Forces Squadron of the 140th Wing of the Air National Guard and their families know that they can always call on the Elks for help!
