It wasn’t just basketball that brought people together at the recent Elks Hoop Shoot National Finals. As a way to connect contestants and their families with the Elks’ mission of service, the weekend included a service activity.
Upon arrival, contestants had the chance to write and decorate cards for local veterans. They were also encouraged to bring hygiene products like deodorant, wet wipes, lip balm, sunscreen, and socks.
Chicago-area Elks Scholars will then pack these products and cards into summer kits that Elks Scholars and Elks HQ staff will distribute to veterans attending the Chicago Summer Stand Down.
Service really does connect everyone in the Elks Family!
