FROM THE SCHOLARSHIP CHAIR The Victorville Elks Lodge B.P.O. 1877 Scholarship Program is in full swing. Beginning in September nine secondary schools in Victorville, Apple Valley, Lucerne Valley, Oro Grande and Phelan have been contacted and applications have been distributed for the Most Valuable Students scholarship program. The submission deadline for those applications is December 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Students have been encouraged to submit their applications early on Tuesdays at the lodge between the times of 6:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. If anyone is interested in joining the scholarship programs and reading/scoring applications, please contact Holly Lucero through the lodge 760-245-1877, Holly’s home 760-948-9899 or cell 760-900- 5809. Contact can also be made by email: hl@charter.net Reading of the applications will commence on Monday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m. In addition the Scholarship Program offers other types of awards and grants to our youth. The Legacy Awards may go out to children of current members. Another unique funding for education through the Elks entitled Vocational Grants for youth enrolling in a two year program with certification is available.
