DeVoe On-the-Go
Music to the Ears I'll be graduating in the spring of 2007 with a triple Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, International Studies and Music, as well as a minor in Anthropology. School is going well, and my research project has even been accepted for presentation at the Midwest Political Science Association's annual national conference. I enjoy writing, recording, and producing music as well, which definitely contributes to my interest in that realm. With sixteen years of classical and jazz piano instruction, nine years of percussion, and six of guitar, I plan to perform as much as possible during school and my career. After graduation, I hope to obtain my master's in Political Science, and then move on to law school. Law and music, my two main concentrations, will hopefully come together nicely in an entertainment/corporate law career.

Dream Queen Pageants give me the opportunity to put all of my abilities and achievements together for the chance to be an important figurehead in my community. How often do you get to positively influence society on a mass scale; speak out on issues you feel strongly about; get scholarships and major support for college; and have a ton of fun while doing it? I'm very grateful to have held titles such as 2nd Runner-Up Miss Illinois Teen America 2003, 1st Runner-Up Miss Illinois Teen USA 2004, and most recently, Miss Rockford 2006, a five county regional preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Competition. I'm competing in Miss Illinois next June and can't wait!

Tools for Success The ENF's Most Valuable Student Scholarship has definitely impacted my college experience thus far and stands out among the rest. Education is the most important tool in achieving success, a fact that has never been more evident while I'm studying hard in college. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks not only greatly eased the financial burden of Loyola University, but they also showcased my leadership and scholarship at the convention and awards ceremony last spring in Springfield, Ill. I thoroughly enjoyed that weekend and greatly appreciate all that the Elks have done for me. I'm proud to be able to put this renowned achievement on my resume, and I'm better able to study at Loyola University, all for which I will forever be truly thankful.
