SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2022  - SCROLL DOWN

Hello Elks!
Our new Grand Exalted Ruler, Bruce S. Hidley's theme is, "Promoting Elkdom with Enthusiasm."  I like it.   We at Dunkirk 1776 are actually doing just that, we are EXCITED about our Grants and we are ENTHUSED about being able to give them away.  So far this year we have received $8,000 in ENF grant money.  This itself makes me want to promote the Elks, who wouldn’t want to be a part of it.  Join ENF today for as little as $10.00 a year.

September is going to be very busy.  Come to the lodge, you can help or just mingle but we’d love to see you and would like your input in what we do.

Sept 3rd, BREAKFAST 8-10 am - All you can eat $8.50 - Proceeds to Scholarship
Sept 10th, Fireman awards night, if anyone wants to help, we are catering.
Sept 15th, Initiation, we will be bringing in 2 new members.
Sept 24th, BENEFIT BREAKFAST for our SPECIAL OLYMPICS 8-10 am - All you can eat for $9.00 - All proceeds will go to them for gas, food etc. when they travel to sports events.  We will be presenting them with a check (Grant money) and revealing how much on this day.  Over ($5,000.) with the purchase of New Golf Shirts, Basketball uniforms, Bowling Shirts, golf balls and a couple set of golf clubs and so on, our Olympians will be updated like their opponents. These folks have settled for leftovers for years.  Thanks, Dan Watson for writing the grant for the lodge, I am so proud to be a part of this.  Please come and show your support and ENTHUSIASM as Elks in sharing and making Smiles.

Oct 1st, BREAKFAST 8-10 am- All you can eat $8.50 - Proceeds to Scholarship

Please check out - Thoughts Regarding: "Elks Lodge Special Olympics Charity Benefit Breakfast- provided by PER James Fulks on Sunday, September 25th, 2022.

"As a Past Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler, the events of yesterday filled me with a level of pride in our fine Fraternal Organization that I find hard to adequately put into words.  The irony of all of this is the recollection of that evening in December of 2020, when we held an emergency meeting and a very close vote was held, and we literally almost lost our Lodge to a faction who wanted to "give it all away", close the Lodge and transfer all of our assets to The Hartford City Elks Lodge.  Needless to say, I personally made a few phone calls and got people to attend that meeting that night after pleading with them to STOP THE INSANITY of wanting to just give it all away.

Thankfully, cooler, more sane heads prevailed, and we were able to regroup, and reopen after an entire calendar year of being closed for Covid issues.
Since reopening The Lodge in March of 2021, I have witnessed our people really pull together as a well oiled machine, and through tireless effort, and teamwork, I have seen this fabulous little Elks Lodge in Dunkirk do some very spectacular things.

I literally had a struggle, maintaining my composure yesterday as we were able to give away $7,000.00 to a very noble and worthy charity.
The level of pride I have in Our Lodge, Our Community and most importantly, OUR PEOPLE, is immeasurable, and I am thankful to be associated with such a fine bunch of people who have the vision, desire and drive to make all of this happen, for the good of the community.
YESTERDAY WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHEN IT WAS ESPECIALLY GREAT TO BE ... AN ELK!!!!"
