Scholar Advisory Board Spotlight: Macy Warburton
Hey there, Elks family! My name is Macy Warburton, and I am a student at Kansas State University. I will be graduating in December (so soon!) with a degree in political science and non-profit leadership studies. After graduation I plan to attend graduate school to obtain my Masters of Public Administration with a Non-Profit Management focus.

As an undergraduate student, I have been involved with numerous activities on campus. Some highlights include serving as New Member Coordinator for Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity, teaching first-year students as an Introduction to Leadership Studies Class Leader, and becoming the Elections Commissioner for Student Governing Association. I have also had amazing opportunities off campus as well. The most memorable would definitely be working as a Congressional Intern this past summer in the beautiful and historical city of Washington, DC!

As you can tell, I stay pretty busy, but I always take the time to relax and have fun. In my free time, you can find my cheering on the Wildcats at K-State sporting events, having “life chats” with my friends until the wee hours of the morning, drinking massive amounts of coffee at local coffee shops, and taking advantage of everything the Little Apple (Manhattan, KS) has to offer.

One thing of great importance in my life is serving others. After winning my MVS scholarship in 2010, I realized the Elks would give me ample opportunities to do just that. During my freshman year at K-State, I got involved with local Elks Lodges and other Elks scholars on my campus. At the end of that year, I decided to apply to be on the Elks Scholar Advisory Board. I was so blessed to be accepted and attend my first SAB meeting in Phoenix that summer. Ever since then I have fallen in love with all the Elks has to offer. I have planned events for the Elks Scholar Month of Service, spoke at the Kansas State Elks Convention, and met up with so many great Elks scholars.

Best of all, though, I have helped with four different Hoop Shoot Contests at the local, state, and national level! This year I will attend the Regional Hoop Shoot in Colorado and the National Hoop Shoot Finals in Springfield, Mass. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to spend time with the kids who have worked so hard to get where they are! If you are looking for an opportunity to become involved with the Elks, you should most definitely check out this program and other Elks programs you can volunteer with! I promise you that you will not regret it.
