Great Lakes Captures Inaugural Cronk Award

You can't spell team without Cam and Linda Cronk. The Missoula, Mont., residents have exhibited teamwork in all aspects of their lives.

Their marriage is a team. They parent as a team. And for more than 40 years, including 15 at the helm, they served the Hoop Shoot program as a team.

They instilled the value of teamwork throughout the program. And now, two years after their retirement, the program is honoring them with a new award. Fittingly, it's not an individual accolade but rather an award for the best-scoring team at the Hoop Shoot finals.

At the awards banquet for the 42nd national Hoop Shoot finals, Elks National Foundation Director Jim O'Kelley presented the first Cam and Linda Cronk Award to the team from the Great Lakes Region, whose players hit 128 of their regulation 150 free throws in the contest for a percentage of 85.33.

The six shooters (Drew Cook of Brazil, Ind.; Hannah Archer of Lowell, Ohio; Jayden Jerger of Defiance, Ohio; Kyla Jamison of Salem, Ohio; Josh Young of Salem, Ohio; and Koryn Playford of Jonesville, Mich.) each received a medallion while Regional Director Don Fassnacht got a trophy. The state directors for Indiana, Michigan and Ohio will also receive awards.
