History of Dover Elks Lodge No. 1903

In 1953, Elks Wilmington Lodge #307 agreed to sponsor Dover Lodge #1903 and its one-hundred eleven charter members.  Then in June 1955, a local group of doctors and businessmen approached Dover Elks and a gift of $5500.00 to purchase property. With that generous gift, as well as through numerous fundraisers, in August 1958 we held a ground breaking ceremony for our first Lodge, located on Forrest Avenue. We held our first meeting in our new home on November 16, 1961.  The Dover Elks served happily from that Lodge until 2004 when the property was sold, and we began construction on a new Lodge at 200 Saulsbury Road. We finished the move into our new Lodge in early October 2005, and the Lodge was dedicated on November 26, 2005.  Our new Lodge has a large, comfortable lounge for our Members to enjoy with their guests.  We also have a formal dining room and a large Banquet Room, both of which are available for rental.  Contact the Lodge for more information!
