To be elgible for membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE), you must be a citizen of the United States over the age of 21, who believes in God and of good character. To join Dover Lodge #1903, you must be sponsored by a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and reside within the jurisdiction of Dover Lodge. You will also need two other Elks to be your co-sponsors.
The Elk Member who proposes you for membership, must obtain an application from the Lodge Secretary. After your sponsor enters his required info in the sponsor's portion, you will be given the Application for Membership. Please completely answer all questions, following the instructions, and return the completed application to the Secretary of Dover Lodge with prescribed fee. Alternatively, you may complete an on-line Membership Inquiry form that will be directed to our Lodge.
Your application will be read at a regular meeting of Dover Lodge. It will then be forwarded to the Membership/Investigating Committee, who will call you to set up a time for you and your sponsor to meet with the committee so they can interview you. After the interview is concluded, the committee will report to the Dover Lodge concerning your membership. Members will be given a notice of not less than 10 days, nor more than two months, before a vote on your membership will be taken.
After Members have voted to approve your membership, you will be notified and invited to the Dover Lodge for for indoctrination where you will learn more about the Order's programs and charities. You will also be advised of the date you will be initiated into the BPOE at the Dover Lodge.
Once initiated you are eligible to take part in all meetings and social functions of the Dover Lodge.
If for any reason your application is rejected, you cannot make re-application for membership for six months after the date of rejection.
