Food insecurity is a very real problem, especially for seniors without transportation. The Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge #161 Senior Outreach is doing something about it. Volunteers meet on the second and fourth Tuesday at Franklin Community Center and St Clements, and the second and fourth Wednesday at Wilton Food Pantry. While there, bags are packed with requested food items on the menu, and then delivered to Raymond Watkins Senior Apartments, Embury, Saratoga Community Center, Northern Pines, and Wilton Commons.

The seniors are so appreciative because they no longer have the burden of purchasing food with their limited incomes, or choosing between paying for food or their medications.

None of this would happen without our volunteers and partners. Thank You!
It takes a village to make it work, but we still have so much more to do. Since gaining additional volunteers, two more senior apartments will be joining the program. A meeting with the seniors residing at both places will take place the end of July, and will provide program information, instructions on completing menus and when they are due, and will also include time for questions and answers.

Senior Outreach is growing rapidly and to reach out to so many in need, we still need more volunteers. It does not take up much of your time, it is so much fun, and it is so rewarding to see so many happy faces as the seniors see their food bags delivered.
