Scholarships

The Bristol Elks Lodge awards multiple student scholarships each year. Combined, the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship, the Elk's Legacy Award and the scholarship for College Sophomores and Juniors allow the Elks to provide financial assistance to members and their families as well as the general public.

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship

This annual Most Valuable Student scholarship awards are for graduating high-school seniors enrolling in higher education. In 2022, the Elks will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants. Awards range from $1,000 - $12,500 per year for students pursuing degrees at US colleges and universities.

Eligibility: The Most Valuable Student Scholarship is available to all graduating high school seniors (or equivalent). Applicants must be US citizens, but DO NOT need to be members of related to a member of the Elks.

Elks National Foundation Legacy Award

The Elks Legacy Award are $4,000 scholarships targeted to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education in US college or universities. The Award recognizes those students exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation - Knowledge, Charity, Community and Integrity. In 2022, there are three Legacy Awards available to Rhode Island students and three Awards available for Massachusetts students. Financial need is NOT a factor in selection of the winners.

Eligibility: The Legacy Awards are open to graduating high school seniors who are children, stepchildren, and grandchildren of Elks members in good standing who became a member on or before April 1, 2019. Legacy Award winners will be expected to perform service once a year with an Elks Lodge during the four years they are receiving the scholarship.

Submission Deadline: The 2022 Legacy Awards open for submissions on September 1, 2021 and the application deadline is February 7, 2022.

College Sophomores & Juniors Scholarships

Each year, the Bristol Elks Lodge awards scholarships to enrolled college sophomores and/or juniors totaling $2,500. Often, based on the strength of the applications, the Lodge may split the scholarship between two deserving applications. 

Eligibility: Elks Scholarship opportunities are open to children, stepchildren, and grandchildren of Elks members in good standing who became a member on or before April 1, 2019.
