The Elks Celebrate Veterans Remembrance Month
After veterans return from serving our nation, it’s our turn to give back to them. Especially when they fall on hard times. Each day, more than 40,000 veterans spend their nights in makeshift beds on the sides of roads and highways.

The Elks has pledged to help end veteran homelessness. During November, we’re shining a spotlight on these initiatives for Veterans Remembrance Month.

The Elks National Veterans Service Commission is working on several programs with Lodges across the nation to serve our veterans. From the Welcome Home Kits program, which supplies veterans with furniture, kitchenware and cleaning supplies as they transition into permanent housing, to the Elks Emergency Assistance Program.

Your Lodge can change lives by hosting supply drives and fundraisers for programs like the Welcome Home Kits.

“I know how much it helps the veterans and how grateful we all are, and have been,” says Navy Veteran Mary Ladwig. Ladwig was the first recipient of a Welcome Home Kit from Cocoa Beach, Fla., Lodge No. 2387.

The Elks National Foundation ensures our veterans are never forgotten. In 2017-18, the ENF granted $1.5 million to serve veterans through the Elks National Veterans Service Commission, and pledged $1 million to help the commission end veteran homelessness.
