When Janet Rasmussen first joined, she knew nothing about the Elks. She reflects on the generous example of the Lodge ENF Chairperson at the time: “It was a real milestone for me. I really learned about giving.”

Now a very busy District ENF Chairperson, Rasmussen is also the Exalted Ruler for Lodge! Plus, she shares her time and talents with other groups like the VFW, her church, and the Boys and Girls Club, encouraging partnerships with her Elks Lodge as much as possible.

“I have a passion for it,” says Rasmussen. “It makes me give even more!”

With the ENF, she can see where her contributions are helping, and it’s a huge motivator for her. Rasmussen believes in the power of talking face-to-face. She meets personally with all the ERs and Lodge Chairs in her district to discuss their success and hardships. In fact, she’s planning district meetings for Chairs to gather and share ideas! When asked for advice, Rasmussen keenly states: “Get out from behind the desk and communicate! Don’t be afraid to talk about what you’re doing. Share your passion.”
