Girls Allowed

One of the many strengths of the Hoop Shoot program is that boys and girls compete equally, at the same time, on a level playing field. 50 percent of our Hoop Shoot contestants last season were girls, yet only nine percent of our directors at the District level on up were female. When our female contestants look out on the court, we hope that they see more female role models in the seasons to come. Girls Allowed explores the role women already have in the Hoop Shoot, and illustrates the importance of including even more women in leadership roles in the program.

Through the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program, the Elks National Foundation offers youth the opportunity to engage in healthy competition, connect with their families and community, and succeed both on and off the court. In 2015-16, the ENF allocated $924,070 to fund this program, which includes the exciting addition of a Hoop Shoot app for contestants www.elks.org/hoopshoot.
