Position Purpose

We are seeking a Shipping & Receiving Clerk to manage the daily flow of deliveries, shipments, and mail at our national headquarters. This role ensures that goods, packages, and correspondence are processed accurately, efficiently, and securely. The coordinator also maintains organized records and provides support services that keep our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shipping & Receiving: Prepare and ship outgoing goods; create shipping records and bills of lading; post weights and charges; file and maintain shipping documentation.
  • Incoming Shipments: Receive deliveries; verify accuracy against invoices and bills of lading; report damages or shortages; route goods to the appropriate departments.
  • Mailroom Operations: Process organizational mail, including postage machine use (Pitney Bowes preferred).
  • Records & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of goods shipped and received.
  • Customer Service: Support staff by handling deliveries and supply needs with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Equipment Handling: Safely operate mailroom and standard office equipment; assist with moving supplies or equipment between facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
  • Prior shipping/receiving, mailroom, or customer service experience required.
  • Experience with Pitney Bowes postage machine preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures, standard office equipment, and mailroom operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database applications.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to travel on occasion including up to one week of overnight travel per year

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 lbs.
  • Frequent mobility including standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing stairs, reaching, pushing/pulling.
  • Occasional driving.

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Fulltime, Non-Exempt
  • Compensation: $19–$22/hour (based on experience)
  • Work Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (M–F); some flexibility required
  • Location: Easily accessible via CTA (Brown/Purple Line, bus lines)
  • On-site Parking Available
