The Elks National Foundation has an opportunity for a Development Coordinator at its national headquarters in Chicago. The Development Coordinator is part of a fundraising team, working with both individual donors and national fundraising volunteers. Reporting to the Manager of Development and Events, the Development Coordinator will assist in all aspects of the fundraising plan, volunteer management and program event logistics.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as main customer service contact for donors, volunteers and prospects, to include greeting and assisting callers transferred from an automated phone system, and corresponding with donors and volunteers.  (Must be able to originate all forms of communications and correspondence.)
  • Provide day-to-day support for Development and Events Manager and execute assigned development projects. Will also handle routine administrative details for the department.
  • Serve as point-person for volunteer resources to include request fulfillment, promotion and instruction to volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other departments on a giving opportunity for major donors, managing the donor stewardship and cultivation component.
  • Perform data-entry and data extraction in the donor database to accomplish daily, weekly and monthly departmental tasks.

Qualified candidates will have either one or more years of related experience.

  • Work requires attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to consistently demonstrate ability to take the initiative to make decisions/choices without direct supervision.
  • Must have excellent spelling and grammar; good phone skills; be organized; be able to set priorities and meet deadlines; be able to multi-task and carefully proof own work.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in communications across multiple generations.
  • Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, identify problems and find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
  • Must be able to work individually as well as participate on teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is a must; Raiser’s Edge is a plus.
  • Must have a sense of humor.

Compensation: $48,000-$50,000 annually, based on experience.
