The Elks National Foundation’s programs teach youth lifelong skills, inspire the pursuit of knowledge, serve veterans, and give Elks the tools and resources they need to strengthen their communities across the country.

The ENF Communications Associate position will start onsite at the Chicago headquarters with the option to transition into a hybrid routine once training is complete. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Associate is responsible for cultivating and stewarding donors and other stakeholders through multi-platform storytelling that respects the dignity, uniqueness and potential of every person.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Telling the Foundation’s story by conceiving, developing, and producing high quality, timely content for digital, print and social media communications.
  • Maintaining the Elks National Foundation’s brand and style, ensuring consistency across platforms and departments.
  • Interviewing donors, program participants, and volunteers and sharing their stories for videos and print publications
  • Managing the Foundation’s online and social media presence, including e-newsletters and the ENF’s YouTube channel. 
  • Collaborating across departments to develop audience-appropriate messaging.
  • Cultivating and soliciting donors through targeted mailings and e-communications.
  • Editing and fact-checking all communications from the Foundation.
  • Implementing strategies to retain new donors.

The perfect candidate:

  • Is an excellent storyteller.
  • Has two or more years of relevant experience in communications, journalism or a similar field.
  • Demonstrates strong organization, writing and communication skills.
  • Is proficient in social media platforms and Microsoft Office applications and has some knowledge of Adobe Indesign.
  • Has a strong attention to detail.
  • Is a self-starter with excellent follow through.
  • Works independently on multiple projects as well as in a team environment.
  • Sets priorities and meets deadlines.
  • Has a willingness and desire to learn.
  • Takes ownership and pride in projects.
  • Has a sense of humor.
