To recognize outstanding JROTC cadets for leadership, patriotic work, and community service, the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks offers the B.P.O.E. JROTC Award Program; sponsored by the Grand Lodge Activities Committee. This award, which consists of a ribbon with medal pendant and supporting ribbon bar along with a printed certificate issued by a local Elks Lodge to a Cadet who has proven to be a true leader in Academic Achievement as well as Community Service Projects, and who maintains the highest standards in all fields of endeavor.
A Cadet must:
(1) Be in good standing in all military aspects and scholastic grades at the time of selection and at the time of award. (2) Demonstrate outstanding leadership and patriotism. (3) Actively lead or be involved in Community Service projects. (4) Not have previously received this award.
A cadet is selected by the DAI/SAI or other service official or head of the school (or both) in coordination with the nearest Elks lodge. Requests be made at any time of year, but please allow 30-days for delivery of medal, ribbon, and certificate.
