  • Christmas Basket Donation

Season’s Greetings to all of you!

It hardly seems possible that Christmas is just around the corner. Soon it will be time once again for our biggest and most rewarding Elk’s project of the year. This will be the 69th year for our Lodge Christmas Basket Program. Unfortunately, this project grows more every year. This year is no different with an increase in need due to the Covid pandemic. Last year we packed over 500 baskets and provided meals for nearly 2,500 individuals. The last three years combined we have delivered over 1,660 food baskets, feeding over 6,400 adults and children in the community. We look forward to helping as many as we can again this year.

Because of the enormity of the need and our desire to help as many families as we can, we once again are asking for your help. Will you help with a donation? We rely on donations from our members and friends of the Lodge to help fund the food purchases to fill these baskets. Without your help, and the help of other businesses and individuals in Dodge County, this program could not continue to feed the increasing number of families on our list. These food baskets help to make a brighter Christmas for those people, and we do not want to disappoint any family requesting our help. I’d also like to mention that our list of families in need is compiled directly from the Dodge County Toy Bank and Social Services.

Packing of the food baskets will begin at 8:45am on Thursday, December 24th at Summit Ford in Beaver Dam. The BDHS wrestling team and local Scouts will be on hand to assist us in this process. If you would like to help in the assembly or delivery effort, please join us that morning. After completion of deliveries, all workers, volunteers, and members are invited to join us for lunch at the American Legion Veterans Center at 300 Beichl Ave. As we are able, we will be doing everything we can to keep everyone safe including masks, gloves, and social distancing.

I’m proud to be part of this project. The Elk’s principles of Charity and Brotherly Love truly shine this time of year.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at (920) 344-8093 or robradig@gmail.com. Your donation can be returned in the enclosed envelope and will, of course, be greatly appreciated. Make all checks payable to Beaver Dam Elk’s Christmas Baskets.

    Fraternally,

    Robert Radig Sr., Chairperson
