On January 28th 2021 the Boone Iowa Lodge No. 2884 officially received its charter to open as a brand new local Elks Lodge and an Antler Charter for the kids to get involved as well.
As a new lodge with many committed members, we got the year started off right and jumped in to help our local Boone community.
In November several members’ gave of their time to help a local veteran whom had a severe stroke. They did some yard clean up, fixed his front deck and remodeled his bathroom to make it more accessible for him to come home from the hospital.
The Lodge had its first successful coat food and toy drive for the 2020 Christmas holidays.
In December we also had an Angel Tree that had many donations from local businesses and community members to help several local families to have a better Christmas. We are very grateful to the individuals and Boone businesses that donated.
In March we gave a monetary donation of $300.00 to the “Boone Homeless Fund” to help out the victims of the apartment building in uptown Boone that displaced 11 people, due to a building fire .
We have a very generous group of members giving of their time for weekly fund raising activities.
The Lodge is open most Friday evenings for Open House fund raising dinners from 5:30 pm until 8:00pm. The lodge has been doing fund raising breakfasts on certain posted Saturday mornings from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. And holiday social events on the occasional Saturday evening. All events are posted on the Lodges official face book page called
“The Official Incorporated Boone Lodge No. 2884”.
Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up. Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today’s veterans, and improve the quality of life. Through our local Elks Lodge, district, state, and National programs, we provide healthful activities, guidance and assistance to over eight million boys and girls every year. We fund scholarships, athletic teams, summer camps, scouting and drug education programs thru fund raising.
The Lodge is still a work in progress and coming together with the dedication of its members. And welcomes any new prospective members to come up and learn about what the Lodge is all about.
Contact an officer if you would like more information on how to get involved and become a local Boone Elks Lodge member.
