There will be a total of $1400.00 in prizes drawn throughout the month of January. A calendar is included in your newsletter if you receive your newsletter via postal mail. Calendars are also available at the bar for $10.00 each.  Get them before they sell out. Fill out the bottom portion of the calendar, detach it and either mail it to: Rochester Elks, PO Box 1393, Rochester, NH 03866-1393 or give it to the bartender with $10.00 cash or check payable to: “Rochester Lodge of Elks #1393”.

A message from the Exalted Ruler:

To Members and Guests - Please read, Spread the Word and Save The Date!

 The Rochester Elks Lodge #1393 will conduct an “Open House” on Sunday, January 27th, 2019 from 9 AM until 2 PM. Everyone is invited to attend this special event. The Order of Elks celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2018 and the Rochester Elks Lodge will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2020. The Lodge Officers and Members are proud of what is being accomplished with its programs and would like to explain and illustrate these projects to the general public. The Order of Elks has around 900,000 members nationwide and over 2000 Lodges.

The “Open House” will start with a free sausage and pancake breakfast starting at 9 AM and ending at 10 AM. Light refreshments will be available after the breakfast. The event will then continue until 2 PM, with tours of our facility provided by Lodge Officers.

In addition, there will be information tables available about all of the Lodge activities / projects and Elks representatives on hand to answer questions and explain the workings of what the Lodge does in support of the community and other endeavors.

The Rochester Elks Lodge #1393, located at 295 Columbus Avenue in the Lilac City will conduct an “Open House” on Sunday, January 27th, 2019 from 9 AM until 2 PM.  Everyone is invited to attend this special event. The Order of Elks celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2018 and the Rochester Elks Lodge will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2020. The Lodge Officers and Members are proud of what is being accomplished with its programs and would like to explain and illustrate these projects to the general public.  The Order of Elks has around 900,000 members nationwide and over 2000 Lodges.

The Rochester Elks has over 900 members and is active with community assistance projects, meals for the homeless and contributions to food banks; veterans support programs; youth activities, including a free throw basketball competition, a youth soccer competition; drug awareness programs; scholarship programs open to all students; donations to many youth sports activities and patriotic programs such as the annual Flag Day Program and Flag Retirement Programs. The Lodge has a full social calendar for all its members to enjoy. BPOE #1393 also participates in the activities of the New Hampshire State Elks Association which includes the State Major Project, Copper Cannon, a summer camp for children in Franconia, NH; the annual State Convention, State Golf Tournament, State Cribbage Tournament, Family Day and other activities.

The Rochester Elks Lodge #1393 has been part of the Lilac City Community for over 98 years. We are an extremely vibrant organization with great members and officers who are dedicated to the common good. Please save the date (Sunday, January 27th, 2019) and come down and meet us! We would love to see old friends and make many new ones.

Rochester Elks Donate $3000 to the Pease Greeters!

ROCHESTER ELKS #1393 DONATES $1000 DOLLARS TO THE COMMUNITY TOOLBOX PROGRAM

On December 12th, 2018, representatives from the Rochester Elks #1393 presented the Community Toolbox Program with a check for $1000. This donation was made possible by an Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant.

WINTER BLUES 

CHILI / CHOWDER - FEST

SATURDAY, JAN 19TH, 2019

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

No advance tickets! 

 Come on down and sample various chili and chowders from local establishments.

You also get to vote on your favorites. This event will run from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  

This event was a sellout last year and we are looking forward to another one! 

Admission is $7:00 for Adults and $5:00 for Children 5-10 years old.

Bar service will be available. Raffles will also be conducted.

You do not have to be present to win.

Donations of raffle items would be greatly appreciated.

   Friday Night Suppers!

Friday Night Suppers are the same format as before. Two choices of an entrée will be posted in the lounge for one week prior to the Friday Night Supper. Entrées include a salad, potato, rolls and a Chef’s sweet. Orders for a meal may be given to a bartender, or called in (332-9700 ext 3) by NO LATER THAN Wednesday before the supper. Suppers will be served between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM Friday evenings. Please turn in your meal ticket to the server no later than 6:45 PM. Pay the bartender when you order or pay when you arrive on Friday night.

FRIDAY NIGHT SUPPER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 

The Friday night Supper committee is asking for new volunteers. We have had some of our volunteers retire after years of volunteer service. The Friday night supper team has always put forward a great effort to provide a quality meal and good Service to our Members. Their efforts have also provided good fundraising opportunities for Lodge Improvements and donations to local non-profits. We need your help to continue this high level of service. Positions needed: wait staff, prep work, dishwashers and buss people. Please contact Bob Benoit in person or call 603 285-1756 to be added to the list.

An important reminder to our Members  

In accordance with State Liquor Laws, all non-members MUST BE SIGNED IN by a member. This includes spouses or significant others. A Member can sign in up to four (4) guests. Members who sign in a guest are responsible for their guest. Guest must leave when the sponsoring member leaves, unless another member signs the guest in and assumes the responsibility for that guest. NOTE: DELINQUENT or UNAFFILIATED (dropped) Elks CANNOT be signed in as a guest. If delinquent, they must pay their dues, if unaffiliated (dropped), they must be reinstated. 

REMEMBER – If your guest is not your spouse or significant other, and they live within the jurisdiction of this Lodge, you can only sign them in three times – after that they must either join the Lodge or stop coming in as a guest.

The Order of Elks is celebrating its 150th Birthday. On February 16th, 2018 our Order marked the date of its founding 150 years ago. As part of the commemoration, we can order Key Chains, Pins, T Shirts and Golf Shirts with the 150th Anniversary Logo. If you would like to order these items, see PER Jerry Skidds, or talk to a bartender about ordering what you want.

Charitable Giving & Elks Programs - You made a difference!

In the Lodge Year ending 3/31/2018, the Rochester Elks #1393 and Emblem Club #40 performed volunteer work that resulted in Non Cash Donations valued at $70,060.00 dollars and Cash Donations amounting to $19,953 dollars! Members and other contributors also donated $12,496.73 dollars to the Elks National Foundation. These programs involved over 3,246 participants and countless Elks/Emblem Hours and Miles Traveled to fulfill our commitment to making the city of Rochester a better community due to the efforts of our Officers and Members.  Thanks to everyone who was involved! Please observe the proper sign in procedure when signing in your guests. Make sure you include the date, your name, your membership number at the left, and to the right your guest’s full name, and the city or town and state where they reside. Please write legibly!  Officials from the Liquor Commission periodically inspect this guest register. A messy, shoddy, or improperly completed guest register can jeopardize our liquor license. Please take the time to complete it neatly and properly. Thank You.
