Attention all Elks! 

TEMPORARY OPERATING HOURS

We have expanded our hours and opened the Function Hall and lounges at 50% capacity, in addition to backyard seating,. Wednesday, 3-9 PM, Thursday 3-9 PM, Friday 3-10:30 PM and Saturday Noon -10:30 PM – Backyard, Function Hall, Lounge, Card Room, and Dart Room.

Tables have been setup with 6’ social distancing. There is be no bar seating at this time. You will order at the bar in the Lounge. Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Lucky 7, Keno, Lottery, Queen, and Jug will be open observing 6’ social distancing. In addition, one pool table with be open at this time to accommodate social distancing requirements. Hand sanitizers are available. Please observe posted signs.

Entrance to the Lodge will be restricted to the front door only. The card reader at the side door facing the Knights of Columbus will be disabled and a sign will direct you to use the front door. Everyone is required to sign in and sign out (date and time).

All other protocols remain in effect, including wearing a mask when entering, existing, or when going to the bar, restroom, or using the KENO and Lucky 7 gaming machines.

Non-compliance with the protocols in place will jeopardize our liquor license and subject us to closure. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in keeping the Lodge open.

Get your Fundraising Calendar now. Drawings start on August 1st. As you know our Lodge was closed for three months due to the pandemic. During this time, we were without income but recurring expenses had to be paid. This put a strain on the Lodge financially. This fundraiser will help us regain some of our loss income. Please consider purchasing a calendar. You may also consider buying one or two as a gift for someone. You can print a calendar off from our newsletter, fill it out and return it with your money. You can also mail it as indicated in the newsletter or you can visit the Lodge and drop it off in the dues box. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Attention Rochester 120 Club Members

120 CLUB PARTY & AWARDS NIGHT

Saturday September 19, 2020

We will have the usual format for this night, Roast Beef and Ham Dinner. There is no admission charge for 120 club paid-up members, but you must have purchased a guest ticket to bring a guest. Cut off for tickets is September 12th, 2020 . Guest tickets are $8.00. Presentation of Awards will be made for “Elk of the Year” and “Officer of the Year” and “Citizen of the Year”. Doors open at 5:00 PM. Reservations for a table of eight are available from the bartender. All eight names must be listed on the reservation sheet. Meal served at 6:15 PM. Winning tickets will be drawn and awards will be presented after the meal, followed by DJ Music for your dancing pleasure. FRIDAY NIGHT SUPPER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Friday night Supper committee is asking for new volunteers. We have had some of our volunteers retire after years of volunteer service. The Friday night supper team has always put forward a great effort to provide a quality meal and good Service to our Members. Their efforts have also provided good fundraising opportunities for Lodge Improvements and donations to local non-profits. We need your help to continue this high level of service. Positions needed: wait staff, prep work, dishwashers and buss people.

Exalted Ruler 2020-2021

Summer is here and July is fast approaching. We have completed the gradual reopening of the Lodge and expanded our hours of operation, while maintaining social distancing guidelines and guidance provided by the Governor. As our hours of operation change, we will update our FB page. Thank you to our Members and Staff who have worked tirelessly to accomplish this immense task. We will resume scheduling our Friday Night Suppers in the Hall, Karaoke in the Hall, and the monthly Member events in July. Please watch your newsletters for specific dates and events. It is very exciting to see the calendar filling up again.

We are looking for volunteers for Friday Night Suppers. If you are not currently on the Friday Night Supper distribution list and would like to be, please contact Dee Souza, Chair at Deanna.souza@verizon.net or myself at bonnie.skidds@gmail.com. The formal Installation of Officers has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 25th with a dinner to follow. Lastly, the 100th Anniversary Event is rescheduled for October 24th.

We will continue to accept Brochure Ads through August 1st. Forms are available in the Lounge. The 100th Anniversary pins have arrived and are $5 each. Please see your bartender or any Officer to purchase yours! If you purchased presale, please see me personally as I have your pin(s).

Members - Our Grant Programs are thriving at Rochester Lodge #1393 thanks to your continued generosity regarding the Elks National Foundation. We appreciate that so much and are looking forward to another great year for the ENF and the programs it supports.

Our Lodge has again exceeded the Grand Lodge Per Capita Goal for 2019-2020 with a final tabulation of $10.462 per member and we also won the State "Chairman's Challenge" Award for the second year in a row. Congratulations to our Chairman Norm Gervais for this accomplishment and to all the Members who support this fine program.

ROCHESTER ELKS RIDERS ASSOCIATION

On February 25th, 2019 the Grand Lodge approved a Rochester By-Laws Amendment recognizing the Rochester Riders Association as the official Motorcycle Association of the Lodge providing its aims and purposes remain consistent with those of the Lodge and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. This is an organization recognized by the Grand Lodge pursuant to Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of the Order and must comply with this Section and with Section 13.200 of the Statutes of the Order.

The Riders Association presented their proposed By-Laws to the membership at the March 27th, 2019 Lodge meeting and were approved by the Lodge membership.

Anyone wishing to join the Rochester Elks Riders Association MUST: a) Be a member in good standing of the Rochester Elks Lodge No 1393, b) Be sponsored by a member of the Rochester Elks Riders Association, c) Submit a Riders Association Membership Application with the $100.00 Application Fee. Applications are available behind the bar.

Rochester Elks Sports Hall of Fame

The Rochester Elks Sports Hall of Fame Committee is preparing for the 25th Hall of Fame Banquet to be held sometime in 2020 at the Elks lodge. If you would like to submit a name for consideration, please complete an application which is available on our website (www.rochestershof.com) or by filling out the form located in the bar. Newspaper clippings, statistics and other information are necessary for the selection process. Newspaper write-ups or other information sent with this application will not be returned except by request. It will remain the property of the Rochester Elks Sports Hall of Fame.

All elected will be by secret ballot.

Athlete: This person must have been outstanding, have contributed in such a manner that their ability is still used as comparison, or has left their mark as excelling in their field. Their ability will have been for Rochester, although further achievements are helpful. The nominee must be at least 21 years old.

Contributor: The person recommended must have contributed to the Rochester Athletic programs, sports, or leagues, more than just on a committee. The efforts left its mark physically or otherwise.

The sizes and prices are : Small / Medium/ Large $10.00 / XL, $11.00 / 2X, $12.00 / 3X, $13.00. If interested please fill out an Elks yellow payment envelope with name, money and in the comments put Elks Tee Shirts and put in the black dues box in the bar area. Also put on the sign up sheet next to sample shirt:  how many shirts you want, sizes, name and phone number. The Lodge Secretary will mark you paid on the sheet after receiving your envelope.

Members who sign in a guest are responsible for their guest. NOTE: DELINQUENT or UNAFFILIATED (dropped) Elks CANNOT be signed in as a guest. If delinquent, they must pay their dues, if unaffiliated (dropped), they must be reinstated. 

REMEMBER – If your guest is not your spouse or significant other, and they live within the jurisdiction of this Lodge, you can only sign them in three times – after that they must either join the Lodge or stop coming in as a guest.

You made a difference in the 2019-2020 Lodge Year!

In the Lodge Year ending 3/31/2020, the Rochester Elks #1393 and Emblem Club #40 performed volunteer work that resulted in Non Cash Donations valued at $136,612.00 dollars and Cash Donations amounting to $23,545.00 dollars! Our Elk Programs involved over 4,065 Participants. In addition,members also traveled 48,276 miles and logged over 6,273 hours doing our volunteer work and making the city of Rochester a better community due to these efforts. Please write legibly!  Officials from the Liquor Commission periodically inspect this guest register. A messy, shoddy, or improperly completed guest register can jeopardize our liquor license.
