Grand Poobear Visits Lusk Lodge

Early morning Sunday June 15, the Grand Poobear visited Lusk Elks Lodge.

Club Manager Theresa Modine first noticed the black bear around 7:30AM as it roamed the parking lot of the lodge. Then she watched as it waddled down the steps and across the street to visit ER Steve Kant, who was watering his garden.

ER Kant, not realizing it was the Grand Poobear, unceremoniously shooed it away thinking it was a big shaggy dog.

The Lusk Police Department gave chase and the bear found refuge on top of a light pole at the baseball field.

Later, Wyoming Game and Fish officials were able to tranquilize the bear when it climbed into a cottonwood tree in Ralph and Marlene Sides yard.

It is said to have been transported to Laramie Peak for relocation.
