MARION ELKS LODGE 32 PLACES SECOND IN NATION IN COMMUNITY SERVICE CONTEST

MARION, OHIO (09-24-04) – Marion Elks Lodge No. 32 has been awarded second place in the National Elks 2003-04 Community Service and Image Contest (Division 3 - 501 to 700 members). The announcement was made by the Grand Lodge Activities/State Associations Committee.

The local Elks Lodge was presented a second place plaque at the 2004 Annual State Convention of the Ohio State Elks in Columbus. Past State President Fran Mullen of Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107 presented the award, which was accepted by Brad Smith, 2003-04 Exalted Ruler of Marion Elks Lodge #32. Marion was the only Elks Lodge in the state to receive this recognition.

The contest seeks to recognize Elks Lodges who excel in exemplifying the work of the organization in support of charitable, veteran, youth, scholastic and fraternal member activities. The award is based upon the submission of a scrapbook chronicling the Lodge’s community oriented activities over the past Lodge year. It included photos, press clippings, thank you notes and letters, and will become a permanent part of the rich history of the 119 year old Lodge, third oldest in the state of Ohio.
