MARION AREA 2003 ELKS SOCCER SHOOT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

MARION, Ohio (9/8/03) – The former Marion Harding High School soccer practice field was the site for the first Marion Elks 32 Soccer Shoot competition. Several youngsters ages 8 through 13 competed in the September 6th soccer kicking contest. It is a two-stage contest designed to best represent the skill levels of the three age groups involved. This is the first year that the Marion Elks have sponsored this competition where youth can advance from the local level through district, state, regional and on to the national level. The local winners of each bracket will advance to the Elks North Central District Hoop Shoot Contest, scheduled for September 20th in Bucyrus, OH.

The Marion Elks are pleased to bring the Elks National Soccer Shoot Program to Marion. “Our hats off to Greg Winger, Head Coach of Boys Varsity Soccer at Marion Harding, and his team for helping us to arrange and coordinate our first soccer shoot,” said Brad Smith, Exalted Ruler of the Marion Elks Lodge. “All Elks Youth Activities programs have the common goal of keeping children occupied with positive, character-building role models and activities, providing alternatives to drug use, and simply having fun.” The Marion Elks also wish to thank Sways Trophy House and The Marion Recreation Department for their donations and assistance.
