The month of May has been great. What can I say about May? I want to thank everyone who came out to
the Mother’s Day Celebration. What a great turn out! Our Lodge Dues are coming in great. I think this has
been the best return on dues that the Lodge has seen in a long time. Members are liking what they are
seeing at the Lodge. The House Committee is trying new things to get more members. We have got to try
to see what works and what does not work.
We are getting a lot of applications for new members and reinstatements. The word is getting out about
the great work our Lodge is doing. When you are talking to your friend, ask them about joining your
Lodge. Bring them out one night and show them your Lodge. We have 340 members. If each member
would bring in 1 applicant, we would have 680 members. I know that we can do this in our Lodge.
We have some wonderful events coming up in June. Our Flag Day Ceremony will be held on Sunday,
June 13, 2021 @ 1:00 pm. The Bennett’s Point Community will be adding a fellowship hall to its chapel.
They have asked the Walterboro Elks Lodge to provide a meal on the evening of June 14th. If you would
like to be involved with preparing and/or serving this meal, please let me know. Giving back to the
community is what the Lodge promotes. I would like for the members of Walterboro Elks Lodge to be
involved in these events.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone for getting our Lodge ready for Mother’s Day. Members
volunteered their time in great fashion from cutting dead limbs out of the trees, cleaning the pool and pool
furniture, cooking, cleaning, and decorating the Lodge. When we work together, we can accomplish
anything. Members getting involved makes the Walterboro Elks Lodge # 1988 the best Lodge in the
United States.
