El Cajon Elks Lodge #1812: Teen of the Month Program

Honoring Excellence in Our Community’s Youth

At El Cajon Elks Lodge #1812, we believe in supporting the next generation of leaders, scholars, and changemakers. Our Teen of the Month program recognizes outstanding high school seniors throughout East County who demonstrate academic dedication, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to community service.

Each month during the school year, our lodge selects two exceptional seniors to receive a $500 cash scholarship. Furthermore, all monthly winners chosen throughout the year qualify to compete for our prestigious $1,000 Teen of the Year scholarship at the end of the school term.

 

Who Is Eligible?

The Teen of the Month program is open to high school seniors graduating at the end of the current school year seniors that attend high school within the east county area of our lodge, defined by the GUHSD borders (and Mt. Empire) but not limited to the GUHSD schools.

What We Look For

Our selection committee evaluates candidates based on a well-rounded profile of achievements, focusing closely on:

  • Academic Excellence: Outstanding classroom performance and dedication to studies.
  • Leadership & School Involvement: Active participation in school clubs, sports teams, student government, or fine arts.
  • Community Service: Documented volunteer hours and a clear passion for giving back to others.

 

How to Apply

  1. Obtain an Application: Pick up the official student recognition nomination form directly from your high school’s guidance counselor office, or request one by contacting our lodge.
  2. Gather Supporting Material: Prepare your official or unofficial current high school transcript and a comprehensive achievement profile listing your extracurriculars, leadership roles, work history, and volunteer service.
  3. Submit Your Packet: Send your completed application and materials digitally to our scholarship committee at scholarships@elcajonelks.com. Alternatively, you may submit your completed physical paperwork directly to your school’s guidance department for screening.

El Cajon Elks Lodge #1812 Vocational Scholarship

Available all year to all high school graduates who reside within the Grossmont Union High School District boudaries, to include the Mountain Empire District. Must be U.S. citizen with no age limit. To benefit those seeking vocational school or technology related education. Applicant must have a plan to pursue a vocational/technical program in a qualified school or training facility where an associate degree, a diploma, or a certificate of completion is earned within the next two years (not baccalaureaute program).

Examples include: Police/First Responders, Veterinary Tech, Cosmetology, Machinist, Cyber Security.

Must carry 12 unit class schedule or equivalent and be considered full time student. Pays for tuition, books and supplies necessary for completing course of study.

Covers tuition, books and supplies. Amount varies based on need and tuition. This grant is non-renewable and on one-time basis.
