Brattleboro ELKS #1499's Flag

  1. The Elks #1499 Flag was purchased in 2003
  2. The Flag cost $800.  The Emblem Club paid half=$400 and the Lodge paid the other half=$400
  3. The Flag is 20 ft by 38 ft
  4. The Flag holds water, so if it begins to rain during a parade, each side holding the flag takes turns dipping down their side to empty the water.
  5. If the Flag gets wet, because of its size, it is dried in the Lodge room accross the Alter with each corner using the Chairs so it never touches the ground.  It takes a few days to dry, so it is never put out in the rain.
  6. White Gloves are used by those members holding the flag.
  7. Lodge Floor Flag with the Golden Eagle topper:  The Flag pole's Eagle is pointed at the ER and when the alter is arranged the Flag pole's Eagle faces the Leading Knight.
