Welcome to our Lodge!

Gerry Skidds, Exalted Ruler 2017-2018

I would like to congratulate the 21 new members of our lodge who were initiated last Sunday. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events and working alongside many of you during future volunteer opportunities. I would like to thank and congratulate my suite of officers for the great job performing the initiation ritual. It takes a great deal of dedication and practice to memorize each part and then the concentration to be able to recite them back during the ceremony. Thank you to Rene Cardinal for preparing a great meal, as usual, and to Tim Cook for helping Rene prepare and get the food out. Special thanks to the new members who stepped up to serve the meal. Let’s keep the momentum going and continue to bring in new members and let’s get to that target number of 75 new members this year. In the June newsletter I mentioned that we going to do a major kitchen clean-up detail on 6/17/2017 and asked for volunteers. I am proud to say that again the members stepped up and we had 20 members show up on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. ready to tackle whatever we needed to do. Volunteers: Kathy Akerman, Bob Benoit, Roxanne Benoit, Denise Chase, Jim Clark, Sue Cook, Warren Cooper, Tom & Sherry Ducharme, Don Martin, Charlie McLaughlin, Pat & Fred Meyer, Bonnie Moeller, George Peteya, Jerry & Cindy Skidds, Gary Spurling, and Harry & Janice Tagen. Additionally, we had Kerry Winfrey – a Spaulding High Senior and 2017 Elks National Foundation Scholarship winner come down to volunteer his time to this effort. Members jumped in and began emptying out the kitchen. Teams worked in the hall cleaning dishes, covers, utensils and serving tables, while another team was in the backyard power washing the dish racks, floor mats, oven racks, food carts and cleaning toasters and fry baskets. Meanwhile another team washed walls, refrigerators, meat slicers, sinks, counter tops and floors and rearranged the storage racks. It was a great effort by everyone to clean the kitchen from top to bottom. I would also like to thank the ladies of Emblem Club / Elks for cooking and serving the Father’s Day breakfast on Sunday 6/18/2017. The food was great and we served around 50 people that day. Kathy Akerman, Sue Cook, Jeanne Bernard and Cindy Skidds. Special note Jim Clark helped in the kitchen cooking the special order eggs and omelets. Summer is in full swing, don’t forget our backyard, grab your drink and go outside to enjoy. Please consider attending one of our upcoming events; Summer Friday night supper – BBQ – July 7th, Beef & Reef – July 15th, tickets are on sales at the bar now. Dance – with Red Sky Mary – August 11th - $5.00 cover at the door and Margaretville on August 19th . Thank you for your continued support of our lodge.

Fraternally yours, Jerry Skidds Exalted Ruler
