Listed as a Historic Site by LA county, Arcadia is where the famous Lucky Baldwin's estate (where Fantasy Island was filmed) resides and home of the CalPhil "Concerts on the Green". This 127 acre botanical garden is one of Arcadia's best kept secrets.
Attempts to secure this 185-acre property, site of the World War I Ross Field Balloon School, were started in 1933 with the assistance of Mr. John H. Hoeppel, a member of Congress. A ground-breaking ceremony on February 10, 1936, signified the beginning of development of this park. Two years later, on April 24, 1938, the Santa Anita Golf Course was dedicated. An order of the Board of Supervisors on August 2, 1938, changed the name of this park from Santa Anita to Arcadia County Park
