The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 and Elks NationalVeterans Service Commission Volunteers recently started a “Veteran RideShare” program to assist our local Veterans with transportation issueswhile getting them to and from their scheduled appointments to the localVA-Veterans Clinic at the Yale Community Health Center of McLaren-PortHuron. To date, our volunteers have already assisted (4) Veterans inmaking it to their appointments. The Veterans have provided early enoughnotice, so we have time to schedule a driver to assist them. It’s a greatway to meet and enjoy the company and stories of our nation true hero’s, ourVeterans. Please consider becoming a Ride Share volunteer. On another note, Lodge 343 Veterans Committee are always lookingfor donated medical, mobility and bathroom safety equipment for Veterans withdisabilities. Equipment needs include manual wheelchairs, motorizedwheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, adaptive bikes, shower seats, lavatoryseats, step stools, basically anything to assist our disabled Veterans livetheir daily life. If you, or a family member, know of anyone who nolonger has the need for this type of equipment and are looking for a group todonate these items to, please consider the Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 VeteransCommittee, thank you!
