Westbrook, CT Lodge News

Thank You Adam Palermo!

Today we’d like to recognize and celebrate one of our own—Adam Palermo.
Adam became a member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge in 2017, proudly carrying on a family tradition as part of the fourth generation of active members. His family’s contributions run deep:
• Antony Gasperini, one of our founding members, and our FIRST Exalted Ruler
• Clifford Gasperini, Exalted Ruler (1968–69), State President (1973–74), and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler (1982–83)
• Tony Palermo, Lodge Secretary (2010–2014)
Adam himself has served our lodge with great dedication. He was elected Lecturing Knight in 2019, advanced through the chairs, and became Exalted Ruler in 2022–2023. Since then, he has continued his service as a Board of Trustees member, as part of the East District Auditing Suite (2023–2024), and as the East District Veterans Committee Chairman (2023–2024).
But today, we especially want to honor Adam for his military service.
After graduating from Westbrook High School, Adam enlisted in the U.S. Army and served on active duty from June 2013–June 2017. His training took him from Fort Jackson (SC), to Fort Lee (VA), and Fort Gordon (GA). He was stationed for a year in South Korea, then returned stateside for two years at Fort Riley (KS).
In December 2017, Adam joined the Connecticut Army National Guard. He attended Combat Medic School in Sea Girt, NJ, earning a spot on the Commandant’s List for graduating among the top of his class. From 2020–2021, he deployed to Djibouti, Africa for nine months as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was promoted to Sergeant and became Senior Medic of Alpha Company, 1-102. Today, Adam continues to serve as Senior Medic for Delta Heavy Weapons Company, Delta 1-102.
This fall, Adam will once again deploy with the National Guard.
Please join us in thanking Adam—not only for his commitment to our lodge, but for his dedication, sacrifice, and service to our country. We are proud to call him both a brother Elk and a true hometown hero.
