Exalted Ruler Message February '23

Hello, my fellow Elks brothers and sisters,

January was one to remember.  Mild weather (mostly) and so much fun at the lodge. Bluzillion blues band/pizza night and Dueling Pianos were a great success.  Everyone had a blast; there were also some very large private parties that kept everyone working hard.

We had a great group of Elks from all the lodges in the Southeast district for the District Deputy clinic on January 14th.  At this meeting, we unanimously voted Kevin Curran as the SE Iowa Elk of the year.  This will qualify Kevin to compete for Iowa Elk of the year.  Anyone that knows Kevin, and how hard he works for our lodge, knows that it is well deserved and there is no Elk in Iowa that is more deserving.  If you see Kevin, please thank him for his service and congratulate him on his award.

There are several great events this month to attend. PER initiation is on February 2nd.  We have a great group of folks to initiate.  Come on up and meet the new members and hang out with some of the PER’s.

The Elks National Foundation Fundraising Breakfast will be on Saturday, February 11th, 7 AM-11 AM. All proceeds go to ENF, which funds Community Investment Projects, Scholarships, and Youth & Veteran Programs in our community and surrounding area. Tickets are $12 and are on sale now. For tickets ask any lodge officer or pick up at the lodge.

On Saturday, February 25th, we are going to have a special broasted chicken night cooked by our wonderful cook Seth Simmons.  If you have not tried the chicken yet, this is a great opportunity to come see what all the fuss is about.  We believe that it is the best chicken in town.

Back by popular demand. The nut feed is back!  It will be Thursday, February 23rd.  Tickets will go on sale soon.

Keep an eye out for the next big event.  The shrimp feed will be on March 11th.  Tickets and details will come out soon.  Buy your tickets as soon as they come out as this sells out very quickly.

Reminder: We have about 30 individuals that have not paid their dues.  If you haven’t paid your dues yet, please do so immediately.  We are trying to get them all caught up as soon as possible.  We have already paid Grand Lodge on your behalf in April for this lodge year.  You can mail a check for $77 to Fairfield Elks, PO Box 365, Fairfield, IA, pay at the lodge, Venmo @fairfieldelks1192, or PayPal at fairfieldelks1192@gmail.com.  We appreciate your membership and support.

Fraternally yours,

Ryan Ford, Exalted Ruler

The next Stagettes meeting will be on February 9th.  Please join us for a pasta bar dinner and a couple of games I would like to try out. Purses, pockets, wallets, and the saran wrap game. Hope to see you all there!  Dayna Ford
