2257 Hosts Picnic for Families with Disabilities

Home Service Hosts Picnic On Saturday, July 23, the Home Service Committee hosted a picnic for over 35 parents and children. The Spring event was originally scheduled to be held in the outdoor pavilion. But the brutal, three day heat wave forced the picnic indoors.

The annual picnic is a great time for all the families and children, starting with a lunch of hot dogs, chicken nuggets, watermelon and more. Chicken nuggets are always a favorite with the Home Service children. Dessert concluded with ice cream drum sticks and popsicles. After lunch, the committee members distributed school supplies for the upcoming school year, including new backpacks, paper and $25 gift cards for additional specialized items that might be needed. The festivities concluded with a few fun bingo games and prizes for the winners.

Eleven families, unfortunately, could not attend because of transportation or other issues. For those families, backpacks were filled with food and supplies and distributed by Mary Ollie, Home Service Head Nurse and West Shore Elks Citizen of the Year for 2022.

The PA Home Service Program has been helping to improve the quality of life for thousands of children and adults throughout Pennsylvania. They provide support and advocacy services to individuals of any age who have a developmental disability. You can help by donating to Home Services at the Lodge.
