Lake Norman Elks Lodge supports Cornelius Animal Shelter

CORNELIUS – A regional partnership project resulted in a financial boost for the Cornelius Animal Shelter.

In May, Lake Norman Elks Lodge 392, based at the Angels & Sparrows facility in Huntersville, partnered with a business in Charlotte to hold a benefit event for the Cornelius Animal Shelter.

Lodge members, in a project coordinated by Elks Lodge official Caroline Hall with valuable assistance from fellow Lodge officer Kathy Hulla, teamed with Tommy’s Pub in Charlotte – where Stacy Badger served as the point person – to conduct a bake sale.

The three-hour event, with Lodge members and others contributing an assortment of baked treats, raised $500 that was delivered earlier this month by Elks Lodge members to the Cornelius Animal Shelter.

Lodge officials expressed special thanks to Tommy’s Pub owner Jamie Starks for providing space for the fundraiser.

The Cornelius Animal Shelter, closed on Sunday and Monday, operates at 19110 Meridian St. in Cornelius and plays a vital role focusing on finding new homes for abandoned pets, as well as feral cats, in an effort to reduce the number of homeless kittens and puppies in the community.
