Lordsburg Elks host Halloween Carnival for more than 200 kids

The Lordsburg Elks utilized an ENF Promise Grant and put on a Halloween Carnival for elementary-age children in Hidalgo County on October 31, 2013. Throughout the four-hour event, more than 200 children (ages 0-9) enjoyed the games and information booths in the carnival. The Elks Lodge was assisted by the Lordsburg High School Leadership Class. Juvenile Justice Continuum of Services (JJCS) graciously donated grand prizes to a student in each grade in a candy corn counting game. New Mexico Elks Association Drug Awareness also donated a variety of prizes for the event. Held on the final day of Red Ribbon Week, the Halloween Carnival focused on making sure each child went home with information for themselves and their parents on the dangers of drug use.
