3rd Annual Scholarship Corn Feed and Classic Car Show

The 3rd Annual Elks #1161 Scholarship Corn Feed and Classic Car Show is scheduled to be held on Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Lodge and spilling out into downtown Eveleth.

The event will kick-off at 4:30 p.m.

This highly popular and successful event, intiated in 2006 as a corn feed which served about 125 patrons and expanded to include a classic car show in 2007 which saw the number of patrons grow to in excess of 500, is sponsored by Eveleth Elks Lodge #1161 in conjunction and association with the Eveleth Merchants Association, and will donate all profits to the Eveleth Elks Scholarship Fund.

This fund, established in 2006, earmarks funds raised to provide scholarships to local and area deserving youth who are pursuing higher education beyond high school. All funds are segregated from other available funds, to insure that disbursements from this fund go exclusively to scholarship awards.

The event will be expanded to include space for classic cars and/or other attractions not only in front of the Lodge and on Jones Street, but also onto a portion of Grant Avenue in downtown Eveleth.

Corn, brats and burgers, soft drinks and sides are anticipated to be offered. Dining facilities will be available both indoors and outdoors.

A sock-hop at the Lodge will continue the festivities following a main street car "cruise".

Additional details will be provided as they become available, but in the meantime, mark this date to not only participate in a meaningful community event, but also to simultaneously participate in the important Lodge work of encouraging and mentoring our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.

The Lodge also encourages all to acknowledge the efforts for the goodwill of the community of the Eveleth Merchants Association by considering the services available from its valued members.
