Exalted Ruler's Corner April 2020

Dear Lodge Members,

I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as the Boise Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler. When I expressed my willingness to serve, I had no idea that the transition of officers would take place under such exigent circumstances.  Nevertheless, while we find ourselves living in extraordinary times, you can be assured that the Lodge officers and I are committed to assuring that the needs of the Lodge and its members are met.

As you are likely already aware, on March 18, the Lodge leadership voted to close the Boise Lodge to April 30, 2020.  This means that all Lodge activities, including meetings, third party events, and regular bar operations are cancelled through the month of April.  The following day, Grand Lodge, through our Idaho State Sponsor, Roger True, directed that all Local Lodge meetings be postponed until further notice.  While the decision to close the lodge was not an easy one, it was necessary to help protect the health and welfare of our Lodge members, our community, and our dedicated healthcare providers.

Please understand that while Lodge social activities have come to a halt, the Lodge leadership will communicate to assure all necessary Lodge maintenance continues and the Lodge bills are paid. We will closely monitor future developments concerning COVID-19 and, in accordance with direction from Grand Lodge, will work to re-open the Lodge and “fill” the calendar as soon as we are able.

In the meantime, please reach out to me by email or phone with any questions, concerns or ideas you may have.   Working together we will get through these challenging times.

Fraternally yours,

John J. Burke   Exalted Ruler    Boise Elks Lodge No. 310
