Ribbon Cutting and BBQ Celebrate Greenhouse Project at Colma Veterans Village
South San Francisco Elks Lodge #2091 recently hosted a ribbon cutting and BBQ to celebrate the latest addition to the greenhouse at Colma Veterans Village, an affordable housing community for previously homeless veterans. This project is an extension of our Beacon Grant-funded initiative, which supported the purchase and assembly of the greenhouse itself.
The Freedom Grant funded the addition of a commemorative bench, as well as the ribbon cutting event and community BBQ, creating a space not only for gardening but also for connection and celebration. The project was selected and planned by the Lodge’s Grant Committee to reflect our ongoing commitment to serving those who have served.
Elks members, residents, and community partners gathered to mark the occasion with food, fellowship, and gratitude. The greenhouse now serves as a lasting resource for therapeutic engagement, wellness, and community building—made possible through the generosity and dedication of Elks Lodge #2091.
