As your Lodge Secretary, I have the privilege of seeing firsthand what makes Pocomoke City Elks Lodge #1624 such a special place. It isn't just our building or our traditions-it's our members. The friendships we've built, the memories we've shared, and the willingness to help one another and our community are what truly define our Lodge. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has already renewed their membership for this year. Your continued support keeps our Lodge strong and ensures that we can continue the work we all take pride in. Today, our Lodge has 472 active members, but 53 of those members-about 11% of our membership-have not yet renewed their dues. While that number is much lower than where we started, every renewal matters. Annual dues are more than just a payment to maintain membership; they are what keep the lights on, the doors open, and allow us to continue supporting our veterans, our youth, local charities, scholarships, and the many community programs that reflect the values of Elksdom. Every member who renews plays a part in ensuring that our Lodge remains financially strong and able to fulfill our mission of serving others. If you haven't yet paid your dues, I respectfully ask that you do so as soon as you're able. We genuinely want every member to remain part of our Elks family. If there is a concern or circumstance preventing you from renewing, please reach out to me. A conversation is always better than losing a fellow Elk. We value your membership, and we'd much rather work together to keep you with us than see your name removed from our rolls. I'd like to close with a thought about one of the four great principles of our Order-Brotherly Love. To me, those words have become more meaningful with each passing year. We gather at the Lodge to enjoy good food, share stories, laugh together, volunteer, and support one another through life's ups and downs. But life has a way of reminding us just how precious those moments really are. None of us knows when the handshake we offer, the conversation we have, or the "see you next week" we say may be the last. So take a moment to appreciate the friends around you. Introduce yourself to someone new, check on a member you haven't seen in a while, and never miss an opportunity to tell a fellow Elk how much you value their friendship. The true strength of our Lodge has never been measured by the number of members we have, but by the love, kindness, and fellowship we share with one another.
