ANNUAL HOOP SHOOT COMPETITION
Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 - Regional Hoop Shoot Competition
Highland Elks Lodge #2539 Hoop Shoot Chairman, Deana Mack, is proud to announce that two local boys from our area, sponsored by the Lodge in Cherokee Village, have advanced to the Elks Regional Hoop Shoot Free Throw Competition, which will be held in Paris, TN on March 12, 2016.
Approximately 70 boys and girls from around the State, ages 8 through 13, met in Hot Springs on Sat. Feb 6 for the Arkansas Elks State Hoop Shoot Competition. Of the five from our area that competed, two will now compete in the Regional event – which is amazing considering that only the top four students from Arkansas advance to Regionals. The Regional event includes children from Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. Winners from that event will then advance to the National Competition, which will be held in Chicago, IL April 15-17, 2016.
We wish the best of luck to Matthew Guffey from Salem, winner of the boys 10-11 year old age group and Hayden Edwards from Mt. Pleasant, winner of the boys 8-9 year old age group and hope they make it all the way to the finals!
