Americanism Essay Contest Winners

“What Makes You Proud of America”


The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Washington Lodge #1559 would like to announce the winners of the Americanism Essay Contest for the 2018-2019 school year.  The theme of the essay contest was “What Makes You Proud of America”.

The winners from our local lodge are:

Division I (5th and 6th grade):

                   1st place, George Volmert, Homeschool (George was also 1st place in the District and 1st place in the State)

2nd place, Luke Mauchenheimer, Campbellton Elementary (Luke was also 2nd place in the District and 3rd place in the State

3rd place, Ryan Kassebaum, Campbellton Elementary


Division II (7th and 8th grade)

                   1st place, Ben Lause, St. Gertrude (Ben was also 1st place in the District and 1st in the State

2nd place, Kayla Brinkmann, St. Gertrude (Kayla was also 2nd place in the District and 2nd place in the state

3rd place, Lexie Meyer, Our Lady of Lourdes


The awards will be presented at our annual Flag Day Ceremony which will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Rennick Riverfront Park, Washington, Missouri.  This ceremony will be held in collaboration with the Washington VFW and the American Legion.  The event is open to the public.
