Tools for Schools - Salem

The BPO Elks 1309 Tools for School Program was established to begin serving the students in the Salem Public School System in 2015, and was expanded for 2016 with proceeds recevied from an Elks National Foundation Impact Grant.

If you wish to sign up for the Back to School Backpack Giveaway that will take place in August, please click on Links to the left, then Tools for School sign up form.  You must be able to provide proof of Salem residency when coming to get the backpack and school supplies.

The purpose of the Tools for School Project is to provide students in the City of Salem, whose families have a financial needs with backpacks and school supplies to get them through the school year.  In addition to the backpacks and school supplies, the project also includes a monthly event which consists of homework and classwork assistance for the students if they need it and other timely information or group projects and mini classes on topics such as healthy eating and exercise, budgeting, anti-drug use and safety among others.  In addition to all of this, there will also be a pantry of school supplies that the students can take from to help them get through the school year as they need items.

The goal of this project is to help students in the City of Salem succeed in their classes to give them the best opportunity for success in the future.

Each monthly event, unless otherwise noted, will be held at The Salvation Army of the North Shore, 93 North Street, Salem, MA 01970.
