Lodge #1415 Guest Book

Lesa (lesa89@yahoo.com)

from Huntington Park, CA, Lodge #1415

Hello to everyone. I was thinking of my Dad today and started thinking about the Elks Lodge he belonged to in my teen years. My father, Gerald "Dutch" Cartwright was an officer of the Huntington Park Elks lodge in the 70's. He was a big part of the initiations also. I have such fond memories of the times we shared with other families at Elk events. I actually worked at this lodge in the mid 70's. I bussed tables in the dining room, worked all the big summer parties and for formal dances, I worked the "coat check" room. During the summer I worked at the pool, collecting fees and managing the snack bar. This lodge was a big part of my High School years. In 1972 the motor corp sponsored a pageant in which I was a runner up and rode on the Elks float in the Huntington Park Christmas Parade. My Dad took a lot of pride in being an Elk. He enjoyed sharing it with his kids also. I believe when my Dad was an officer, the Exalted Ruler was Clyde Cobb. Wow, what a flashback!!

My father spent many years as a member of Lodge 1415. I spent my youth in Huntington Park playing sports sponsored by the Lodge. I was also honored to be a part of the Elks Fun Band playing drums for them in the late 50s. This Lodge, even though I was never a member, has always had a strong place in my heart.

Good Afternoon- wanted to stop by and say hello. I spent many summers in my youth at the Elks lodge and as I got older-I enjoyed wonderful events with my grandparents at the Elks Lodge and Emblem Club. Though Papa Harry and Nana Merf are both gone now I have many beautiful memories to treasure. Peace and continued prosperity to the Elks and Emblem Club.

Hello...

I have been thinking about lodge 1415 for the last few days. My grandfathe Harold Hoskins was a member at lodge 1415. He has since passed on though. As a boy in the mid '70s i used to study Karate under Elk Member Jim Muckleroy. It is nice to see that the lodge is still there and functioning. Do you folks still have the pool out back? I live in Minneapolis now but think about my summers having fun there at the Elks Lodge. DO you know if Brother Jim Muckleroy is still around?

Jonathan Jones (jontyjones@mac.com)

Good day to you all. I am writing to ask for your lodges help in tracing the relatives of one of your members, a Mr Ulysess S Grant Hinton who was a member in the 1930's. My mother is tracing our family tree and now we are looking to find information of those who emigrated to the USA from here in Wales, UK.

I have scanned and posted an article from the 1930's on a page that can be found here-

http://homepage.mac.com/jontyjones/Hinton/PhotoAlbum98.html

It shows the annual Mothers Day service held by Lodge 1415 and features the sister of my great grand mother Mrs Ulysses S Grant Hinton nee Griffiths. Any information whatsoever regarding either Mr or Mrs Hinton and their descendants would be most welcome.

Thanking you in advance for your kind response.
