Carol (Long) Petrie (Yonto@citlink.net)

I was wondering if you kept any records on past members and their activities in your organization. My grandfather, Elmer A. Long, was a 41-year member of Elks Lodge No. 96. I am hoping to garner more information about his life for a family history project. Thank you.

Greetings from Aotearoa New Zealand. I was just checking your website to see if you had a list of former Exalted Rulers. My step-dad, G. Bob Roberts was Exalted Ruler of this lodge in the mid-1940s when the lodge had a large membership that included several celebrities.

Sherri Dunlap (nyclady1@ca.rr.com)

from Westchester, CA, Lodge #2050

Eight years ago on this day 9/11/09, the world witnessed the single most horrific act of terroism ever to befall Americans on US soil. The destruction of the World Trade Center made Americans realize that even we are not safe here on our own land. For me it was a personal tragedy in so many ways, yet as a New Yorker I remember some of the more wonderful times as well. My dad worked in the WTC where I visited many times, I had dinner New Years Eve there at the restaurant Windows of the World, on top of one of the towers, I remember watching on Aug 7, 1974 frenchman Phillipe Pettits impossible tighrope walk across the towers and how magnificent a feat that was, or when another frenchman, Alain Robert in both 1997 and 2007 ascended with his bear hands and nothing more, on of the towers to the 60th floor before getting arrested, of time.

All these memories will remain in my heart forever along with the brave men and woman who died trying to save others on that horrific day 8 years ago. To those who lost their lives trying to escape or being buried alive, to those 2,993 people that lost their lives, may god always be with them.

To all humanity throughout the world:

We will never forget !

Each month I am tasked with the publication of our lodge newsletter. One feature in the newsletter is a short bio on famous Elks. Your website names a few of the lodges. If possible, I would like to have the lodge number and location of the other men mentioned in your posting. Please let me know if that information is available.
