  • Flag Day 2023

This year’s Flag Day Celebration was held at Gulick Park on June 14 with almost 150 people in attendance. Flag Day Chairperson Burton Pianalto said this was the largest attendance we have had in almost 15 years. The evening began with free Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for the community that were grilled by the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office. Then the Boy Scout Troop presented the colors. Next, members of the Goodland Elks Lodge did their Flag Day presentation including the history of the flag. Aaron and Sabrina Thompson sang the National Anthem and God Bless America. Americanism Essay winners read their winning essays. Then a United States Flag that was flown over the U.S. Capital was presented to the 4-H Ambassadors and will be flown at the Fair Grounds during the Fair this year which will be a real honor to see how the Elks had a part in this flag when we are at the Fair. The VFW also provided the Hot Dogs and Buns. It was a very successful night and we want to thank all those that helped.
