Check Boxes

A check box is a square box followed by text. Check boxes can be turned on and off (checked and unchecked) by clicking anywhere in the check box with the mouse. Alternately you can [TAB] to the check box and press [ENTER] to toggle the check box state. If a check box has an X in it, the setting is considered On or Checked. Unlike radio buttons, check boxes work independently of each other. So even though multiple check boxes may be grouped logically (as in the image below) more than one check box can be checked at a time.
