Everett George Littlefield joined his heavenly father on December 16, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born to the late Alta Littlefield on September 20, 1926 in Maywood, Illinois. George, as he was fondly called, lived in Texarkana, Arkansas until the age of 14. At the age of 14, he entered the Boys Town High School in Boys Town, Nebraska. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in the Pacific arena and the Gulf of Mexico as an aviation radioman. Following his tenure in the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico, he continued to serve a cumulative of 40 years until he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. In conjunction with his service in the Naval Reserves, George worked as a postal carrier retiring from the United States Postal Services after 36 years of civil service in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was a devout Catholic, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He married Ruth Ford on March 1, 2009. By marrying Ruth, he gained two sons, a daughter in law, three granddaughters, one grandson, two grandsons in law, and four great grandchildren. George, in his very quiet demeanor, fit right in to the robust family. George was a quiet and thoughtful man. He was easy going and very rarely complained. George was an avid sports fan, umpiring little league baseball games for many years. After he retired from umpiring, he enjoyed watching sports on TV and in person. He was an OU softball season ticket holder for 8 years and a member of the Diamond Club. He not only knew the players' ERA but a piece of their personal history. That was George, always taking a moment to learn more about the person than simply what was at face value. Along with OU softball, he enjoyed attending the OU women's and men's basketball games as a member of the Fast Break Club. He was a man of routine from water aerobics three days a week at the Earlywine YMCA, to reading the paper daily from front page to the end, even the little recipes and bits that most people skim over. If he found something that might interest someone he knew, he would cut it out and give it to them. Ruth enjoyed cooking many new recipes George found reading the paper. George played a mean hand of dominoes, cards, and Canasta. As a member of the Elk's MWC Lodge, he played poker games with Ron Hancock and other members of the Elk's. The family would like to thank Ron for his devotion to ensuring George was able to continue to attend the poker games.
