Omaha Elks Lodge #39 lost its charter on April 7, 1950 due to financial problems, however, a new charter was activated on May 25, 1950 as Omaha Lodge #1817. The Omaha Elks would remain #1817 until July 13,1964 when efforts made by PGER Hobe Blackledge and ER O.M. Campbell had the beloved #39 restored to the Omaha Elks charter.
